The first tune is from the William Clarke manuscript which was purchased from Michigan on eBay by Peter Law of Chester and brought to Sidmouth Folk Festival some years ago by Lyn Law. She very generously allowed me to photograph the manuscript (all 200 odd pages) and between the three of us and fiddler David Dolby we have managed to transcribe all the tunes into ABC notation. They are available for free on my website: www.maryhumphreys.co.uk We have to thank Nick and Mary Barber, fellow members of English Rebellion ceilidh band for enthusing about this tune and the following one from the William Irwin collection. We also have to thank Greg Stephens of the Boat Band who first recorded some of William Irwin's tunes and sent us a copy of the album. This arrangement is one we concocted in the studio with us over-dubbing all our instruments - particularly the banjo which is not often used in our band only because I can't play it and the concertina at once!

Because I couldn't decide what my favourite track was. It's a beautiful album and every track could be my favourite. However, I am a soppy git so I chose stowaway. Thank you Jon and keep up the good work. amediamonkey
